Gold
Key words, phrases and images:
Majestic, regal, rich, magnificent, special, enlightened, inspired, charismatic, confident, egotistical, fame, fortune. Shiny polished metal, soft shafts of sunlight. Golden glimmer, glitter, glint, sheen or glow. Sun gods, illuminated lettering, golden halos, crowns, thrones, armour and coins.
Colour Characteristics:
The sacred masculinity of Gold forms one half of the collective wholeness of White. Silver forms the other. This is the Taoist concept of Yin and Yang, with each opposite forming one half of the whole, interdependent and inextricably linked, each providing definition to the other. Whilst Silver reflects receptive yin archetypes in the form of female goddesses, the moon and night, Gold is more indicative of extroverted yang archetypes such as male gods, the sun and day.
Gold is naturally linked with the higher mind and heightened states of consciousness and can be found in the aura when we are being guided by a male guru, saint or spiritual elder. The expanded states of consciousness represented by Gold can be reached via meditation and spiritual contemplation. In the visual arts, these enlightened states are represented by golden halos, while inspired states are often depicted as rays of golden sunlight entering the mind from above.
Gold light lends us charisma, helping us stand out from the crowd, like the king of the jungle with his golden mane or royalty wearing a golden crown. A Gold aura makes us feel comfortable being the centre of attention, accepting responsibility and playing a leadership role. With leadership comes power and influence, also represented by Gold. People who wear a lot of Gold in their aura have the potential to achieve wealth and fame.
When Gold is used to excess, we tend to outshine and overshadow others. We must take care to keep our ego in check. Fame and fortune inspire both awe and jealousy in others, making us seem godlike and unapproachable, or fake and shallow. It can be lonely at the top. If we share our good fortune, celebrate the light in others and focus on being of service to others, we tend to stay more balanced and grounded. Even royalty is essentially there to serve and care for the people.
If you constantly compare yourself to others and find yourself wanting, your Gold energy may be hidden or trapped within you. Use your outer world as a mirror. All the wonderful things you see in others are qualities you have within you, hidden like buried treasure. There is something that comes naturally to you that you do better than anyone else. This is your inner treasure, so let it shine!
Colour Therapy
Gold improves negative financial situations and can be considered therapeutic for anyone wearing Hardship Grey. To increase wealth and status, Gold can be combined with Resourceful Brown, Abundance Green, Success Brown or Silver.
If your Gold energy is excessive, meditate on colours such as Harmony Purple, Generosity Green, Unconditional Pink and Warmth Yellow. Practise embodying the qualities and attitudes of these colours. If your inner Gold is buried, read the Hips section in Colour Positions and meditate on the words of Marianne Williamson from her book ‘A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles’:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
