Expression Blue (Aura Colour)

Expression Blue has depth and sparkle, like an azure blue sky reflected on the surface of a lake, with little glints of white sparkles and streaks, where sunlight strikes the water. On a feeling level, it feels energetic and lively, like a passionate flow of conversation, with animated hand and body movements being used to convey meaning. This colour is particularly therapeutic for anyone wearing grey colours in or around the Throat Chakra.

Often worn by writers, artists, vocalists, journalists, public speakers and people working in the communication industry, Expression Blue gives us a knack for composing with words and communicating with others. Besides representing a personality type, Expression Blue can appear in the aura when we are going through a temporary phase of heightened creative self-expression.

This colour liberates us by giving us a voice. Our voice is our personal truth; our way of being in the world, expressing our opinions and contributing to a global discussion. Our personal truth is a conglomerate of our values, beliefs, ideas, ideals, attitudes and ethics. When we know our personal truth, we know who we are and who we are not; we know what we stand for and what is important to us. The phrase ‘being true to ourselves’ means living according to our personal truth

Before we can express our personal truth, we need to know what it is. Expression Blue helps us slow down and hear our inner voice. Often, we use creativity as a means to access this inner wisdom. If we cut off from our creativity and our inner voice for too long, we loose touch with our true selves. Sometimes we become too busy and forget to be still enough to hear the creative voice that wants to express through us. This can also happen when we use all our energy being creative for others instead of for ourselves. Creative people need to ensure they are making time for creative reconnection with themselves. They must take care that the pressure to perform on a creative level does not destroy their love for creating. The creative process is highly therapeutic and just as important as the creative end product. Creative expression sets the inner child free, bringing us a joy that nourishes the soul. Expression Blue can be evidence of creative skills being used well, but it can just as easily be a timely reminder to reconnect with our inner muse.

This colour challenges us to speak our truth without violating the right of others to do the same. When Expression Blue is well balanced within us, we celebrate differences between people rather than feeling threatened by them. Everybody has their own personal truth and each person’s truth is true for them, even if it is not true for someone else. It is important to know ourselves and share our truth via self-expression without hiding away for fear of being judged. Creative expression is a healthy way to discover, explore and express our personal truth without forcing it on others.
Our personal truth may differ from that of family members and friends or the society we live in. When people around us hold vastly different views from our own, it can be difficult to maintain loyalty to our own truth. Other people may judge us or put pressure on us to conform to their views. We can then become lost, confused and uncertain about who we really are, especially if our personal truth was not that strong and clear to begin with, or we tend to have trouble maintaining personal boundaries.
When people feel threatened by differences of opinion and belief, they can become judgemental and argumentative. They say ‘my truth is right, yours is wrong’. Some people go out of their way to avoid contact with people who have a truth different from their own, almost as though they are afraid their own personal truth will be contaminated. Some parents take this approach with their children, carefully shielding them from any unwanted influences.
Exposure to different perspectives, however, helps us grow. In deciding who we choose to be as individuals, we occasionally need to release old opinions and values because they no longer fit us. Perhaps they never really suited us in the first place. Part of developing our personal truth involves consciously deciding whether to keep or discard conditioning from childhood, family and society. As we establish our personal truth, we make decisions about what works for us and what does not. This is an ongoing process.
People who wear too much Expression Blue can become unbalanced and tip over into Zealous Blue, or they may become a little obsessed with telling the truth at all costs. These people self-disclose information that other people really do not need to hear, often to their own detriment and the dismay of others around them. Shaman Blue is an excellent therapeutic colour for excessive or inappropriate honesty.

Ambition Orange/Red

From my book, Aura Colour Therapy:

This vibrant, hot aura colour can vary in shade from red-orange to orange-red. Small quantities of red-tinged Ambition Orange can give us the drive and single minded determination to accomplish incredible feats, overcome great odds and transform tragedy into triumph. We all need a warm fire in the belly when going after goals, but Ambition Orange can get a little too hot, making us feverish with the desire to possess something or someone.

Obsession can make us pushy, giving us tunnel vision and warping our values. We may know what we want, but we can’t always have it. Sometimes we need to compose ourselves gracefully and accept the need to let go and move in a different direction. Have a good think about what you would really be prepared to give up in order to acquire your desires. Not all prices are worth paying. Are you setting your sights too intently on one goal without keeping balance and sanity in your life?

Like a burning hot coal, Ambition Orange can burn emptiness into the aura, giving us an insatiable hunger. These auric black holes are childhood wounds that constantly consume energy without ever becoming satisfied. I sometimes call them ‘black hole drivers’ because they shape our behaviour, subconsciously driving us to seek outside ourselves for whatever it was we didn’t get in childhood. And like black holes, no matter how much we fill them, they stay hungry.

For example, you might constantly strive for success because you never received praise from one or both parents during childhood. This initial lack inspires you to attain great heights you might not otherwise have aimed for and this is wonderful, so long as you are not selling your soul in the process. A really deep wound will drive you to constantly achieve more and more, but you will never truly feel successful and you may even sabotage yourself because you don’t really believe in yourself.

Ambition Orange can also represent addictive biochemical and neurological states stimulated by external substances, people and situations. People, praise, sex, jobs, drugs, food, games, money, success and status are all examples of externally sourced keys we use to unlock or access our favourite internal states. We need to learn how to access these feel-good internal states of mind naturally, without becoming dependent upon ever greater quantities of external stimuli.

What it is you are being hungry, intense, possessive or obsessive about? What need are you trying to get met? Can you find a healthier way to meet this need? The deeper essence of whatever it is you are chasing out there in the world, is something you already have within you and around you, so ‘cool it’. Relax and take time to smell the roses. Life is right here, right now, just waiting for you to realise it has been with you all along, waiting for your engagement and offering you simple treasures with genuine depth of value.

Using creative visualisation, imagine finding a safe way to lift some of those hot coals out of your inner fire and cool them off in the water. Let them melt away. Keep doing this until your inner fire calms down! Cooling colours like Patience Green, Generosity Green, Authenticity Green, Healing Green, Watchful Blue, Freedom Blue and Mother Blue can be very soothing for excess fire. You can heal empty black holes with colours like Abundance Green, Soul Retrieval Blue, Clarity Yellow, Happiness Yellow, Gold and Silver. Ambition Orange itself is generally too strong to use therapeutically. If you want to be decisive and active, use Strength Red. If you want to recover your passion, use Creative Red. If you want to set and achieve goals, work with Manifestation Orange.

 

Aura Colours for healing

An excerpt for my book Aura Colour Therapy, affectionately known by clients and students as ‘the Big Book’:

I love using aura colours to help myself heal. If I realise I am being overly cautious and fearful about stepping forwards, I consider which colours reflect this state, such as Conservative Brown and Anxiety Yellow. Thinking about these colours gives me insight into my own attitudes and behaviours and how they may have developed. From here, I can make quality decisions about how I would rather be feeling and behaving and select colours to meditate upon that will invoke or facilitate this preferred state, such as Playful Orange and Happiness Yellow.

When I use aura colours during consultations with clients, not only do they give me insights into the client, they also give me ideas for healing approaches we could take. While looking at the overall layout of colours and discussing the issues these colours bring up, the client and I can create an individually tailored healing plan with colour therapy woven throughout.

During an aura reading, my client Celeste told me that she was concerned about the presence of Detachment Blue in her Heart Chakra. This colour can make us emotionally cold towards others and my client recognised this as the underlying cause for most of the issues she was struggling with. This colour might shut the heart down, but in doing so, it also protects the heart. We needed to understand why Celeste felt the need to protect her heart, and who or what she needed to protect it from. The surrounding colours gave us clues, as well as providing ideas for treatment approaches.

With Animal Spirit Brown also appearing in Celeste’s layout, I decided to take her on a guided meditation and introduce her to her animal spirit guide. People wearing Detachment Blue over the heart often have a wounded inner child with trust issues. Wounded inner children usually don’t like people, but they love and trust animals. Her aura also featured Soul Retrieval Blue, so with her animal as the guide, we used creative visualisation to travel into the past and discover when she first shut down her heart and why. This journey included rewriting a traumatic past event and reclaiming her capacity to trust.

Once we had dealt with the underlying issues and repaired the aura, we used creative visualisation and colour breathing to reduce the excess quantity of Detachment Blue in the aura and replace it with Wholehearted Pink and Generosity Green.

Guidelines for a good aura reading

I’m currently editing the ‘big book’, Aura Colour Therapy, and thought I’d share this page, posted below. Also, I’ve decided to offer two versions of the Aura Sketch and Reading, so keep your eyes open for a blog about that… I’ll make sure I let everyone know when I update the Aura Sketching page, to keep you in the loop!


A good reading should validate and confirm what you already know deep inside. This is especially relevant if you know yourself well and you are quite spiritually aware. Pay particular attention to any information that is repeated and treat prediction in a light-hearted manner because predictions don’t always come true. If you are having trouble relating to the reading, it sometimes helps to talk it through with a close and trusted friend.

If part of the reading advises you to do something you are already doing, think of this as praise from Spirit and confirmation you are on the right track. You are so well tuned in to your higher guidance that you have already heard the spiritual messages you need to hear and you are actively applying them in your life. Keep it up! If you aren’t doing what is advised and the advice resonates with you, get started on heeding that advice!

If part of the reading suggests you have positive qualities but you disagree, it might help to get a second opinion from a friend. Self-esteem issues can blind us to our own positive qualities but a good friend should be able to help you see them clearly. If your friend agrees that you don’t have these positive traits or attitudes, the reading may be advising you to develop them. It can help to focus on breathing this colour into your body while you imagine embodying the positive personality traits associated with the colour.

If part of the reading suggests you have negative feelings or personality traits you cannot relate to, a friend might be able to see what you cannot, or you could try changing the wording. For example, the reading might say you are angry but you can’t relate because you don’t feel angry, you feel frustrated. To me, frustration is a form of anger! Rather than getting stuck on specific words, try using other words that have a similar meaning and see if you can relate. If it still isn’t making sense, ask yourself if the colour in question represents a past personality trait or emotion. If so, this state could soon be triggered back to the surface by a coming challenge. This is an opportunity for you to heal and resolve the issue a little more deeply than you may have already done.

Lastly, keep in mind that the colours in your aura are affected by life situations and people around you, so some of your aura colours can represent other people in your life. This is particularly relevant with colours found in the Heart Chakra position. Finding other people’s colours in your aura can also be an issue if you have become over-involved in another person’s life, or when someone is having a big influence on you. For example, I often find that the aura sketches of over-involved mothers feature more colours from their children’s auras than they do from their own

Use a combination of intuition and logic to decide how each reading applies to you and your life. If there is anything that doesn’t make sense, place it aside and focus instead of what is useful from the reading. Sometimes the bits that don’t make sense now will make more sense later on. For this reason, it can be a good idea to record each reading.

 

 

Relationships and happiness

I just got through two paragraphs, reading a blog about relationships, and suddenly realised my husband and I have been together for almost 27 years. “Why are we so happy with each other, so happy together?” my husband asked me earlier today. I shrugged. “We’ve worked on it. Most people don’t.” I sincerely believe relationships are an art that needs to be practised, a skill-set that can be developed, like anything else in the world.

That might not sound incredibly romantic, but if grounded pragmatism bores you I can broaden the scope and tell you that I also believe my husband and I dreamed each other into being, beginning in childhood. We already ‘knew’ each other before we met. We were brought together by a star that has kept us orientated on one another, so we don’t lose out bearings. But that stuff is our private magic, the sacred stories we share in the right moment at the right time, around a campfire with friends.

Let me tell you instead about the practical magic I feel can be applied to any relationship to help it bloom and flourish, and seeing as most of what I’ve learned I’ve learned from my husband, I’d better check in with him and convey to you what he thinks are the secrets behind a good relationship. But he’s watching the football now, so I’ll let him soak up that joy while I immerse myself in the bliss of the written word and I’ll ask him when he comes to tell me about the game.

My husband and I have learned that you have to meet each other half way. You aren’t in a relationship if you aren’t willing to do this, you are just pretending. Relationships are about compromise and negotiation, about being prepared to give a bit because you love the other person and what you have together. Half way. That means don’t be a stubborn pain the neck, and or let the other person act like a spoiled brat. Love doesn’t do that. Love cares about itself AND the other person.

Find a middle ground, or take turns. It really is that simple. You aren’t right all the time. Neither are you wrong all the time. You can’t have what you want all the time, but neither should you constantly sacrifice your needs like some heroic martyr. The beautiful thing is, that when two people love each other, beyond speaking up to express your needs and feelings (with kindness and respect), you don’t usually have to argue your position much or fight for what you need, because the one who loves you will hear you and meet you half way, at the very least, just as you will do for them.

Good relationships are about kindness. My husband and I don’t always agree, but we have learned to argue (debate) with kindness, and with respect for one another. We don’t tear each other to shreds, but we do express hurt, disappointment, frustration and so on. You can do all of that without fighting dirty. Don’t do or say what you will regret later. Don’t damage the relationship, because arguments are just arguments. They pass.

And it helps to have a wee bit of a sense of humour. It truly can be hilarious when you realise you’ve heard it all before (your own carry on) and your partner is finding clever, light-hearted ways to point this out to you.

My husband finished the game. I just asked him what the secrets to a good relationship are. “Having fun together. I could give you an entire list. Sharing experiences together. Having children together. Travel…. I think honestly is important. That means being able to be yourself and letting each other be who you are. You find you mould each other into perfection anyway, in the end.”

Anyway, that’s his wisdom for now, and mine, because now we’ve got some great conversations to have together.

The Heart Chakra – Green

IMG_1496This weeks feature chakra in my clinic is the Heart Chakra. There are two colours frequently associated with the Heart Chakra: Green and Pink. This week, we will be exploring the Green ray or aura frequency. You can learn more about the aura and different aura colours here.

In my Aura Colour system, I have many different shades of green, ranging from pale greens to dark greens, from yellow-greens to blue-greens, from olive greens to eucalypt greens.

My spirit guides began teaching me how to read the aura in the mid 1990’s after attending a Reiki course. In 1998 I began providing clients with aura sketches and readings and my chalk box eventually expanded to include over 100 different aura colours.

Years later, I used these chalks to create the Aura Cards I now use as my primary healing and reading method in clinic.

About the Aura Cards

Possibilities and synchronicity….

fullsizerenderAnother thoroughly enjoyable work week is wrapping up. In a way, it all started on Monday, the public holiday, with a scrumptious Skype catch up with my Aunty Kay. Kay and I are both passionate about learning, growing and creating tools that help others, and we spent some of our conversation finding ways to help each other take another step deeper into our passion. Kay has an amazing card set she made called the ‘Playground of Possibilities’ which she used to help me, and I used my Aura Cards to help her. Funnily enough, our questions were essentially about how to take our card sets to the next level. PoPcards 006e

The card Kay pulled for me from her deck was “What would be possible for me if I did it, even if I felt afraid?” which I thought was hilariously apt, given I’d just the week prior running a couple of workshops on “Finding Courage” and was busily recording courage-based meditation resources for my students and clients. The Universe always arranges for us to be in the right place at the right time, huh? Here is a link to a blog that shows you how Courage and Synchronicity appear to me visually when I am reading the aura (keeping in mind the colours for me are multi-dimensional, with movement, layers, sparkle, etc… and that’s just on the visual level!).

This question was really helpful for me because it helped me to realise that my feeling of overwhelm in regards to the smorgasbord of creative projects I have in front of me was a form of fear. I was afraid I didn’t know where to start, afraid that I was going to drown, somehow, in all the noise and chaos of possibilities and end up treading water without swimming towards any definable outcome. Talking with Kay I made a few decisions. First was that I needed to create some vision-boards; I needed to map out the various projects in a visual way so I could see them clearly and see the steps that needed to be taken. My original question had been ‘where do I start?’ and the answer that came to me was that I just need to have all the projects laid out in front of me with their sequential steps mapped out so I can float between them. I’m always at my best when I allow my inner child to take the lead, and she LOVES floating between projects. As soon as I get bored or tired, I change gears and it keeps me fresh and inspired.

I had plenty of clients and personal business to take care of on Tuesday and Wednesday so I didn’t get a chance to do my mapping until yesterday and oh my goddess did I have fun doing it! I went through some recent diaries I had handy and pulled out all the pages that were covered in creative-ideas brainstorming, and I collected all the loose leaf pages covered in the same that were floating about, and proceeded to wrestle them into line. The night before, during one of the many soul-quenching conversations I can never seem to get enough of with my husband of 27 years, we realised that an older vision we’d had for the colour books would fit perfectly with some of my more recent ideas. Light-bulbs were exploding in my mind. My husband, bless him, quickly grabbed paper and pen and waited patiently while it all poured out of me.

It’s hard to describe, but I suddenly realised I’d been thinking about it all wrong. It felt like my brain was now looking at the puzzle from a horizontal, rather than a vertical perspective. Instead of columns of separate projects, I was now seeing the interconnected links between them… I was seeing rows that connected the columns together. So now I have the beginnings of a master plan!

Aside from creative-project planning, my week with clients has been a particularly rewarding one. It makes me so happy when I see a client for their one-month follow up and they tell me their anxiety evaporated after our last session. It’s also lovely to see clients I haven’t seen for a few years, seamlessly picking up where we left off, as though no time has passed. I’ve seen quite a few children and teenagers this week, and it has struck me again, how important personal space is for our young ones. They are often overloaded with stimuli from school and then again at home with noisy siblings and shared bedrooms. No wonder they have trouble winding down, finding stillness and sleeping. A lack of personal space is particularly stressful for introverts. As an introvert myself, I very much understand this need for privacy and time out.

Aura SketchI really enjoyed doing an aura sketch on site for a client. Two things about the sketching amaze me. First is that I get to the end of my 60-90 minute long speech and ask “Are there any questions you might have had that the sketch didn’t answer for you?” 98% of people say no! How incredible is that?! The second thing that amazes me is that even though I bumped the on-site price up to $190.00, and am offering a Skype version for $150 and an emailed version for $120, most clients are still opting for the on site version. It wasn’t until I had my back injury and was taken out of action for a while that I realised just how much energy it requires to do my thing, as a psychic. And of all the services I offer, the aura sketching is the most energy intensive. It took a long time before I was able to offer this service again and this has helped me see that I was undercharging. For similar reasons, I’ve bumped the Spirit Guide Sketch up to $200 and can only do one of these per month. Have you seen the spirit guide sketches? Here’s one of my favourites:

STORY-TELLING, POETRY & CREATIVE PROJECTS

I have some clients who have recently begun working with me weekly, because they are going through difficult times and really need the support, or they are highly committed to their personal growth. I’m seriously considering putting a cap on how many people I do this with at any one time, because there’s only so many spaces I have available every week. The booking load is in a nice space at the moment: only about two weeks in advance. I’m working on setting up some booking-rules so that Skype and distant clients are given priority, because I’m still very determined to get a significant portion of my business on-line.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMy husband and I have just become the proud owners of a beautiful 100 acres of land in a little place in northern NSW called Nymboida, and we are hoping to transition into a lifestyle where we come and go every six months, between Darwin and Nymboida. My local Darwin clients who get their heads around the value of distant work will still be able to work with me while I’m away, and I’m putting some hard yakka into streamlining some efficient on-line products and services to make this even easier.

Anyway, I think that’s enough yabbering from me for one week! I’ll write with another update soon.

Boundaries Aura Spray

Boundaries Blue

boundaries-blueBoundaries Blue is the colour I find in people’s auras when their boundaries are strong and healthy. This colour provides a smooth edge to the aura that doesn’t allow things, people or situations in the world around us to ‘hook in’ to our aura.

Using the Boundaries Blue aura colour essence helps us to keep our personal space clear and effectively assert (communicate) our boundaries to others so they know where they stand with us.

This colour gives us a ‘water off a ducks back’ approach to what might normally ruffle our feathers!


Fringed Violetcapture2

I can’t work out where my fringed violet photos are, so I’m showing you some images from a fantastic local resource I often use to help me identify flowers. Please click here to access.

If you brush up against a fringed violet accidentally and then look away for a few second, when you bring your attention back to the flower you may be hard-pressed to find it again. A disturbed fringe violet, with its sensitive fringe feeling into the world around it, will close itself up quite quickly, and pretend to be one of the surrounding grasses. This remedy is excellent for helping your boundaries learn discernment and flexibility, so we know when (and how much) to be open or closed, in each unique situation. I do think there is an element of tie-cutting this flower provides as well: while three petals are fringed, the other three are compact and long, like the swords we might use to cut the ties that bind us.


Desert Rose

I’m a lot tougher than I look, and I can protect you from the demands that other place on you and the demands you place on yourself. Let go of these silly ideas that you are only here to serve others. Reconnect with yourself. Think of yourself as a sacred site and declare your territory sacrosanct. Have self respect and self love. Care for yourself. Care for your body.


Phaleria

phalaria image_0001Phaleria is an amazing Arnhem land flower. I’ve adding this to the blend because having healthy boundaries is also about knowing when to shed your old skin because you’ve outgrown it. Comfort zones can lead to stagnation after all!

Phaleria reminds us we have choices, and we aren’t trapped. It also helps us emerge from our comfort zones. Like a caterpillar coming out of a cocoon, we often discover we have hidden wings that give us freedom when we overcome old limiting thoughts, beliefs and identities.


Black Kyanite

kyaniteBlack Kyanite is protective for the aura and helps to repair rips, holes and tears in the fabric of our aura boundaries. It also helps us to be assertive and to speak our truth. Within the aura itself, it reconnects areas that may have become disconnected by unhealthy defensive responses that armour and harden the aura and it helps dissolve hard walls inside our hearts that occur when we stop listening to our inner voice and our feelings. Black kyanite erects protective shields over the ear chakras that filter out negative energy and dampen the effects of auditory over-stimulation.


Kunzite

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAKunzite is a protective crystal. It provides protection by raising our frequency, dispelling negativity and shielding our aura from unwanted energies. It reminds us to align ourselves with what nourishes us, and to let go of the rest.
